Thomas Zink is the Senior Vice President of Product Development for NVISION Biomedical Technologies, a biomedical manufacturer of advanced spinal and extremity implants and instruments.

At NVISION, Zink works closely with surgical design teams to design and develop implants for various indications and surgical approaches. He also attends surgical cases to support the development of new implant systems.

Education and Early Career

Zink received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1997. He then entered the biomedical field, managing engineering projects across multiple areas of the spine. His first position was with Theken Spine, where he collaborated with neurological and orthopedic surgeons from across the country to develop new implants and instruments. During his time there, Zink developed Theken’s first posterior cervical rod system.

Engineering Leadership

For several years, Zink’s work with Theken overlapped with his role as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at GE Lighting, where he earned his Six Sigma Black Belt certification. Drawn back to the biomedical field, he later joined GE Healthcare as Lead Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager. At GE Healthcare, Zink developed new technology for cutting-edge MRI/PET scanners. Before joining NVISION, Zink served as Engineering Manager for JALEX Medical, where he managed medical device development across a broad range of medical procedures.
